Welcome to my first blog. It has been a long time coming. The purpose of this blog is to give information which requires just a little too much text for a forum like facebook. I will still be providing little snippets of information on facebook https://www.facebook.com/CuffleyNutrition and when I get totally organised linked in and twitter.
We are coming up to Christmas which is always a difficult time with parties and all those Christmas lunches we must have with everyone. So how do you get through it with the least amount of putting on weight or drinking too much alcohol.
Firstly, eat some protein (fish, beef, tofu) before you go. Just enough so you are not hungry when you get there. This will avoid filling up on chips and peanuts before the main food comes out.
If you are allowed to take something, take a bean dip such as hummus or red kidney bean pate so that the fibre in the dip will create fullness and compensate for the lack of fibre in the rest of the meal. If you take a salad, add tomatoes, avocado, corn and whatever else you like to a tin of black beans or a 4 bean mix. Again, great fibre.
To reduce alcohol sit on your drink as long as possible and have a glass of water in between. Host will always try to make sure you glass is full so only take small sips.
Have a wonderful Christmas and break. Embrace the joy of giving and don’t forget the receipt.
Paula.
